Milan: a photo diary

I figured I’m never going to write a piece on my March escape to Milan so I picked 26 photos that best sum up my trip.

Dates: 2nd of March-6th of March 2015

Places visited: Bergamo, Milan, Lake Como

Bergamo

You know when you have a very early flight and you think it’s acceptable to have lunch instead of breakfast? Or pizza for breakfast? (btw this was my third breakfast that day) @Bergamo Citta Alta

Bergamo

Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo Citta Alta

Bergamo

Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore on the outside (still in Bergamo Citta Alta)

Bergamo

killer view of Bergamo Citta Alta. Bergamo proved to be quite a nice surprise.

Bergamo

good old-school place to have lunch and coffee. Not breakfast, though. As much as I love Italian food, their pastry-based breakfast is not really my thing. @Bergamo Citta Alta

Bergamo

the very Italian streets of Bergamo Citta Alta

Milan

His Majesty, The Dome

milan

I was not particularly impressed with the Dome on the inside, only with this part where the light came in through the stained glass. That’s before I found out I’m not allowed to take pictures.

milan

not much to say about this one: anytime is ice cream time in Italy!

milan

I literally have no recollection of where this place is, but it’s pretty so it made the cut

milan

another picture of the Dome, because let’s not forget why we visit Milan

Milan

pretty canes, shiny canes, little skulls on sticks that cost more than a house in Bucharest

milan

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II or one of the most posh places on Earth

milan

night loading…40% complete

Lake Como

the streets of Como, the starting point for the piccolo giro around some of the towns of Lake Como

Lake Como

these houses looked more colonial than Italian to me @Como Lago

Lake Como

life is better at the lake especially if that lake is Como

Lake Como

Torno, the fairest of them all!

Lake Como

still in Torno, Lake Como

Lake Como

bye bye Como!

milan

just your regular apartment building in Milan

milan

even the tram has a posh-vintage look. FYI you can’t buy tickets from the driver, only at convenience stores

milan

The Scala

I had to include this photo because the face of this angel made me laugh ’till I cried in the exhibition at Sforza Castle. No idea who the painter is but DAT FACE!

milan

Bike Mi, although the city  didn’t actually strike me as  bike friendly.

…and I made some friends. They gave me cheese. Anyone who gives me cheese is my friend for life!
